Warehouse Manager
Kilwaughter
I live in Larne with my husband and my five year old Labradoodle, Rocco. My hobbies are getting out on nice walks with Rocco with plenty of scenery and exploring places we’ve never been before around Northern Ireland.
As a Warehouse Manager, I manage a team of six people. My most important duty is to ensure the safety of all staff, vehicles, and visitors in the warehouse in Kilwaughter. I do this through safety checks, briefings, and toolbox talks.
It’s my responsibility to ensure every order that leaves Kilwaughter is correct and on time. My team is also responsible for all raw materials and deliveries coming into Kilwaughter.
I completed my GCSEs at secondary school and then changed schools to complete my A Levels. I then attended the University of Ulster to do a degree in Organisational Communication and Public Relations.
I started working for Kilwaughter in September 2014 as a temporary Receptionist. Once a full-time position became available in the sales office in an admin role, I took it. I was part of the sales team for four years and in that time I also trained in technical sales.
In 2019 I was promoted to Customer Service Supervisor and was in this position until August 2022. There were some staff changes in our warehousing team and I was asked to provide help to the staff in the warehouse. I really enjoyed the new challenge and change of direction that the warehouse gave me and in September 2022 I was promoted again to Warehouse Manager.
I’ve continued my education during my time with Kilwaughter and I’m currently completing a HND (Level 5) in Leadership and Management.
I enjoy the variety of my job. No day is the same and I really enjoy the challenge it gives me. I also really enjoy the environment I work in.
I realise that my degree choice wasn't necessarily going to direct me into a specific job. There are elements of my degree that I still use to this day, but without it, I feel I could still be in the same position in my career.
The career that you have your sights set on might not necessarily be what you will end up doing. I’ve never seen myself as a Warehouse Manager (even just six months ago!) but it has been such a positive and unexpected change for me.
